Let’s Figure This Health Thing Out Together

Come sit by me and let’s figure this health thing out together.

I have a lot of friends, but let’s be honest….I need a lot of friends. I’m high maintenance.
Not the grooming kind of high maintenance, nope, I’m not a groomer.
But I need a lot of chat to keep the wheels on this bus.

A. Lot. Of. Chat.

And Stories so many stories.
Here’s one. My good friend from college told me this story once. Her husband is a sleep talker. One night he rolled over and looked at my friend and said, “Let’s break up into small groups.”
“Um, honey?” She said, “Yeah, we are a small group.”
I believe we are on this planet to help each other.

It’s that simple
I’m not much for competition, I never have been. Maybe that’s because I’m never won a foot race in my life. But that’s a sob story for a different time.
It’s not that I can’t compete. I just don’t have any energy for it.  Meeting, teaching, reaching people gives me energy. I’m not interested beating people to the top of some arbitrary hill.
It’s something women know inherently and men need to work on (there’s some info on that here).
So here’s the health connection: Dean Ornish, (MD) says this:

I am not aware of any other factor — not diet, not smoking, not exercise, not stress, not genetics, not drugs, not surgery — that has a greater impact on our incidence of illness, and [chance of] premature death.

So there it is my friends.

Here’s your to-do list:

  • Groceries (check),
  • Call best friend (check),
  • Peel orange (check),
  • Text another friend (check)
  • and so one and so on to your happy healthy life.

IF you’re still with me on this here is a group of the nicest, most generous, most creative friends and writers around.

We are all friends here. Let’s figure this health thing out together

Great post Ann, and wonderful reminder on the importance of nurturing the relationships we have with friends and loved ones.
