When I phoned my high school best friend, as soon as the connection was made I knew whether she was home or not. If she wasn’t, I’d tell whoever answered to have her call me when she got home. Her brother asked one time if I knew she wasn’t home, why did I call? And I explained that I didn’t know until the phone rang.
